A first international cap for Sean Boult
Sean Boult bestritt gegen Georgien sein erstes offizielles Länderspiel mit der Schweiz
Rugby Basel is proud to present another fully-capped international player. Our Men's First XV captain Sean Boult made his debut for the Swiss Men's National Team in the Rugby Europe Championship match against Georgia last Sunday, 8 February 2026. Switzerland may have lost the game, but won the hearts of the public in Yverdon, notably thanks to a first half in which they held the highest-rated team in the competition to a score of just 3-7.
Sean joined our club in 2021, having previously played in New Zealand, at Northcote Rugby Club, in the North Harbour province outside Auckland. In the XVs and 7s competitions he has been a valuable asset for us ever since. In spring 2024, he was given the captaincy of the RFC Basel Men's First XV. We hope many more successful games will come for him, with us and of course the national team. A next chance will arise next Saturday, 14 February 2026, when the Swiss Men's National Team will take on Spain away in Palencia (kick-off at 20.00h).

Rugby Basel ist stolz auf einen weiteren Nationalspieler. Der Kapitän unserer ersten Mannschaft der Männer, Sean Boult, gab am Sonntag 8. Februar 2026 sein Debüt in der Rugby Europe Championship im Spiel gegen Georgien. Die Schweiz verlor zwar das Spiel deutlich, gewann mit einer sehr engagierten ersten Halbzeit jedoch die Herzen des zahlreich in Yverdon erschienenen Publikums. Zum Pausentee stand es nämlich nur gerade 7:3 für Georgien.
Sean ist 2021 zu unserem Verein gestossen, nachdem er zuvor in Neuseeland, beim Northcote Rugby Club, in der Provinz North Harbour vor den Toren Aucklands gespielt hatte. Sowohl im 15er- als auch im 7er-Rugby ist er seither eine wichtige Stütze für unsere Männerteams. Im Frühling 2024 übernahm er das Amt des Kapitäns für die erste Mannschaft der Männer. Wir hoffen natürlich, dass Sean noch etliche erfolgreiche Spiele mit uns und auch der Nationalmannschaft vor sich hat. Eine nächste Chance bietet sich schon am kommenden Samstag, 14. Februar 2026, wenn die Schweizer Nationalmannschaft auswärts in Palencia gegen Spanien antritt (Kick-Off um 20:00 Uhr).
