Basel Rugby School players were all smiles on Sunday as they kicked off their season against some tough Swiss teams. Cheered on by Tiger Rugby families as they exited the locker room, the Basel teams from U8, U10 and U12 went on to see good results.
The U8's played a Barbarians style tournament and had an absolute blast mixing with players from other teams. Nearly 10 U8's from Basel participated in their first tournament.
The U10's also paired with 2 separate teams for the tournament and came out on top in each match, led by Captain Leandro A.
The U12's fielded a full Basel-only team for the first time in a few seasons. The players took pride in this and played excellent Rugby all day. The day started by drawing with Lugano in a very even and entertaining match. After the lack of a result in the first match, the Baselers didn't let anyone close the rest of the day, and finished 2-0-1. Captain Leif K, showcased his power and grace with powerful counter-rucks and a nifty carry that featured a spin move, resulting in a try.
The players are excited to play again this Sunday in Tägerwilen, with the U12's chomping for a rematch against Lugano.
