Tough Competition in Würenlos for Rugby School Teams

Tough Competition in Würenlos for Rugby School Teams

David Borrowman26 May - 10:51

U12's win a pair, Leandro and the U10's bring home the gold! Elias shines in debut.

12 players traveled to Würenlos to for a showdown with some of the best teams in CH. One each for U8 (Karl) and U10 (Leandro), and 10 players pairing with the home squad. Basel/Würenlos U12's finished 2-3 on the day with a tough last second loss in the opening match.
Megan captained the squad and led the way on defense as wall as with a sneaky weak-side try out of the scrum. Megan's try was the second in this style as earlier in the day, #9 Sam noticed a gap in the defense and fed Yann, who streaked down the sideline for an untouched try.
Lean continued to punish teams with his hard tackling and also his speed. When he gets the ball in space it is almost a guaranteed try. One of the few times he did get tackled on a break away, Hugo was perfectly placed in support and took the ball on a pop pass for a 30m try.
Comoe, Leif and Edwina were a huge factor in the contested scrums and are definitely finding their feet in the front row. Parker battled back from an ankle injury in the 3rd match to play almost the entire 5th match, showing toughness and courage.
Special recognition on the day goes to Elias who played in his first tournament and recorded his first carries and even a tackle that knocked a ball loose for a turnover!
After Tuesday training, the squad will enjoy a long holiday weekend and then be hard at work preparing for the next tournament.
