Having opened the season at home against Luzern with a win, the Men's 1st XV doubled up on the road, winning their away game in Luzern 29-14. It was a hard-earned win though, with a couple of injuries that came with it. Colm Geogheghan (two), Patric Senn and Charles Groell scored the four tries for yet another bonus point win that leaves the Men's 1st XV in the top position in NLB over winter.

Eight games into the season, the 1st XV now has six wins and two losses to count for. With a total of 30 points, Basel are sitting on top of the table, ahead of Lugano (one game less), Rugby Union Zürich and Albaladejo. With five teams within seven points, the race for the semi-final spots will be intense. Basel will have to play more games away than at home, having already enjoyed a large number of home fixtures. Yet, the boys will relish the challenge that is to come in spring.

Nach dem erfolgreichen Saisonauftakt gegen Luzern stand das Auswärtsspiel beim Aufsteiger an. Die 1st XV gab sich dabei trotz mehrerer Verletzungen im Spiel keine Blösse und gewann 29:14. Colm Geogheghan (2x), Patric Senn und Charles Groell erzielten die vier Versuche, die für einen erneuten Bonuserfolg sorgten. Somit steht die 1st XV der Männer in der NLB über die Winterpause auf dem ersten Platz.

Nach acht Spielen hat die 1st XV sechs Siege und zwei Niederlagen zu Buche stehen. 30 Punkte bedeuten die Tabellenführung vor Lugano (mit einem Spiel weniger), Rugby Union Zürich und Albaladejo. Vom ersten bis zum fünften Platz gibt es jedoch nur sieben Punkte Unterschied. Die Frühlingssaison verspricht also sehr spannend zu werden, nicht zuletzt da die Basler öfter auswärts antreten werden müssen. Es gilt für die Jungs also, diese Herausforderung wie in den vergangenen Jahren mit Entschlossenheit anzugehen.
