It was a sunny day for the Birds to develop their practiced 7's skills. We saw room for improvement, but also a lot of room for praise in our women's play. A lot of the trained tactics from last half of the season are slowly starting to get incorporated into our game play. We hope to see more improvement from all players, old and new, as we develop further into the season and join a league next season.
Our captain of the day was Stephanie Klupp and she has a few words from the day:
Overall it was a great day for the Birds. The weather conditions and pitch were perfect for our first home game in over a year! 11 motivated players were excited to show the home crowed how far we developed in the last couple of months. For some players this was also a special occasion because for the first time their parents would see them play.
We are very happy with the results of 30:0. On one side we improved our communication which created try-scoring chances. On the other side we stepped up our defense and managed to win against 0 on such a wide pitch like ours in a 7s game!
Congratulation to Leonie Brodmann who was awarded Bird of the Day!
Thanks again to Zug for coming down to Basel and playing this friendly against us, as well as agreeing on a second 9-a-side round of 10 minutes. Thank you to Andy and Michele for coaching and training, I hope we are able to implement some of our training goals and we are looking forward to the coming up training, development days and most of all to the Super 7s in Basel on the 1st of July 2017.
