Birds Play at Super 7s Tournament in Geneva
By Viola Jackman
An Early Start for the Birds
After getting on the train at 6:30am, the Birds arrived at the pitch in Geneva for the Super 7s tournament only half an hour before their first game against Bern/Alba. They were going strong from the first second on, Henni and Rebekka scoring one try each in the first few minutes of the game. Bern/Alba came back stronger in the second half of the first match, but Basel's superb defence meant that they left the pitch after the first game with a 15-7 win.
Unfortunately, the other two group games against CERN and the Mermigans were lost, which meant that the last game of the day was a placement game for 7th place. It was against the Switzers, the only other NLFB Team at the tournament, and the Birds finished their day with a last win.
Special shout-out to Marisa Peter, who played her first ever game of Rugby and did a superb job!
