TRAINING Every MONDAY from 19:00 to 21:00 at the Rugby Club, come on down!

What is Touch Rugby?
Touch Rugby is a field sport that emphasizes skill, speed, and teamwork over physical contact. With origins in rugby league during the 1960s, Touch has evolved into an inclusive, fast-paced game where a simple touch replaces the tackle.

Why Touch? It's easy to learn, requires minimal equipment, and delivers genuine excitement without the injury risks of contact rugby. Whether you're looking to stay fit, develop game awareness, or just have fun with friend, Touch delivers on all fronts. The sport is played by men and women of all ages (from primary school to over-50s), and the mixed format, where both genders play together on the field, is particularly popular and widely enjoyed in schools and social clubs worldwide.

Touch is recognized internationally by the Federation of International Touch (FIT) and the International Rugby Board (IRB), with competitions ranging from regional tournaments to a World Cup.

About Basel Touch
We're a diverse, welcoming community of Touch players aged 14 to 50+, drawn from all corners of the world. We play Monday evenings year-round, adapting to the seasons:

Season Location & Time

April to October Pruntrutermatte, Höhenweg 85, 19:00–21:00

November to March St. Jakob's astroturf pitch, 20:30–22:00

Two Ways to Play
Whether you're competitive or social, we've got you covered. Most Monday sessions run two parallel groups:

Social Group:
• Come for the fun, games, and friendship—no pressure, just good times
Training Group:
• Advanced skills, tactical work, and tournament preparation

Our Competitive Edge
We're serious about competitions too. Every year, Basel Touch competes in the Swiss Cup and international tournaments. This season, we're headed to the Euros in Vichy, France. We also compete at the Christmas Tournament in Strasbourg, the highlight of many players' year. Our club has strong representation at World Cups and European Championships, and we're proud to field competitive teams.

Part of Rugby Basel
As part of Rugby Club Basel, we work closely with the contact teams. It's common to see rugby players training with us during their off-season to sharpen their handling skills and stay match-fit. (Touch players? We don't really have an off-season!)

Our Motto: ALL ARE WELCOME
Skill level doesn't matter, we want you. First time picking up a ball or returning to the game? Perfect. Looking to compete at the highest level? Even better. We're building something special, and we'd love you to be part of it.

DEUTSCHE VERSION

Was ist Touch Rugby?

Unser Motto: ALLE SIND WILLKOMMEN
